Zayed Higher Organisation honours stars of ‘Ashhafan’ Emirati series


ABU DHABI: Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) celebrated the cast of the classic Emirati series Ashhafan, commemorating its legacy with a theatrical adaptation, Ashhafan Family.

Staged over three days at the Ahmed Mangoush Theatre at the Organisation’s headquarters, the play showcases actors from People of Determination, supported by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and Akkasa Media Production.

Forty-eight years since its first broadcast, the adaptation pays tribute to Gulf drama heritage, aiming to reconnect audiences with cherished characters from the 1976 series.

Foundation officials noted the significance of this recognition, highlighting the value of art in promoting social cohesion and human values. They emphasised the role of People of Determination in arts, describing the adaptation as a creative, inclusive platform.

Original cast members expressed appreciation for the recognition, affirming the series’ impact and thanking Zayed Higher for empowering People of Determinatio
n across sectors.

Attending the event were Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Foundation; Abdullah Al Kamali, Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector; and Nafea Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Support Services, alongside actors and relatives of the late cast members.

Directed by Mohammed Saeed and written by Abdullah Saleh, Ashhafan Family features prominent original and emerging actors, including Sultan Al Siyabi, Ghaya Said, Muzna Ahmed, and Mariam Hamdan. The play centres on challenges facing Gulf families today, exploring social media’s influence on family dynamics and celebrating the Emirati cultural legacy.

Through this project, Zayed Higher reinforces its commitment to integrating People of Determination into the arts, fostering independence, creativity, and social inclusion. The organisation’s Talented Determination initiative, launched in Abu Dhabi, continues to nurture artistic talent across various disciplines, enabling global recognition and enriching cultural div
ersity.
