Youth Auth. launch (Kuwait Debate) project to develop youth thinking skills

Acting Deputy General Director of Youth Public Authority (YPA) Abdullah Al-Adwani affirmed on Wednesday that the authority launched (Kuwait Debate) project in cooperation with several authorities in Kuwait.

The project aims to unify efforts in organizing activities and competitions in this field in a way that develops critical thinking, analysis and scientific research skills among young people of all age groups, said Al-Adwani in a statement for KUNA.

The project includes representatives from the Ministry of Education, Kuwait University, and the Kuwaiti Debate Club from Civil Society, which means that it will include all targeted group ages of school and university students and even after graduation, stressing on the distinguished cooperation with these authorities to make this project a success, he noted.

On her part, Debate Supervisor at Kuwait University Dr. Nawal Al-Kanderi said that this project will highlight the advantages of teamwork, which will have a positive impact on its outcomes. It is expect
ed that this will increase the momentum for the project in the next stage.

She indicated that Kuwait University is having its competitions at the level of its 16 colleges, with the best speakers among them being selected to represent the university in the national championship in Kuwait and international competitions.

In a similar statement, Representative of the Ministry of Education, Bader Al-Shatti told KUNA that this cooperation is considered an implantation of an important principle, which is investing in youth and their knowledge and developing their ways of thinking, which creates a generation capable of giving and contributing to building their society and country.

On the other hand, Kuwait National Debate Team President Fahad Al-Subaie said that the role of a team consisting of young Kuwaitis who have experience in this field relates mainly to technical matters, most notably training students with the highest quality, in addition to integrated work that would produce a distinctive version of this
season’s competitions.

Al-Subaie praised this step, saying that it would improve youth’s dialogue skills and the art of persuasion, stressing that this organized work would motivate his team to exert more effort to achieve maximum success in the next edition of debate championships.
