The United States on Sunday issued orders to evacuate non-emergency personnel from its embassy in Baghdad and consulate in Erbil, according to the Washington Post. In a statement to CBS News, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed his concern about the potential escalation of attacks against US personnel and people. He added that the US, which deployed two aircraft carriers with its escort ships in the eastern Mediterranean, is taking “every measure to make sure that we can defend them and if necessary, respond decisively.”
