Union Association for Human Rights participates in AidEx in Geneva

The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) has participated in the AidEx 2024 conference, the humanitarian aid and disaster relief event, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The two-day conference is co-located with Development2030, a global event uniting international development actors in pursuit of sustainable development goals.

The annual AidEx event featured the latest technologies, relief programmes, and international humanitarian support strategies. It also included high-level panels, specialised workshops, and discussions on ensuring the safe and effective delivery of aid in conflict zones around the world.

On the sidelines of the conference, the UAHR highlighted the UAE’s humanitarian and relief efforts in conflict-affected areas globally. It also introduced the UAE’s institutions involved in providing these services, emphasising the country’s role as a major hub for humanitarian operations. Dubai International Humanitarian City (IHC), the world’s largest humanitarian logistics centre, was presented as a
strategic location that hosts both humanitarian organisations and commercial companies, providing essential logistics services to support international relief efforts.

The association’s delegation showcased key initiatives launched by the UAE leadership to alleviate suffering in conflict zones, such as the “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3” in Gaza. This initiative earned recognition from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with the UAE ranking first in the Arab world and second globally in providing humanitarian aid to Gaza in 2024.

Other notable UAE initiatives highlighted include humanitarian efforts in Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Lebanon.

Led by Maryam Al Ahmadi, Vice President of the Association, the delegation’s participation in the event aligns with efforts to foster partnerships with active civil society organisations in the global development sector. The event reinforced the UAE’s leadership in humanitarian aid, contributing to sustainable deve
lopment in various communities.
