UNICEF warns of delays in medical evacuations for Gaza’s children

GENEVA: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said that children in Gaza are facing critical delays in medical evacuations, noting that less than one child is being medically evacuated per day.

In a press briefing held today in Geneva, James Elder, UNICEF Spokesperson, warned that if this slow rate of evacuation continues, it could take over seven years to evacuate the 2,500 children urgently in need of medical care.

Elder stressed that children in Gaza are dying not only from the bombs, bullets, and shells around them but also from the lack of access to life-saving medical care outside the region.
