UAE Foreign Ministry welcomes the consensus of the 6 + 6 Committee.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the announcement by the Libyan Joint Committee, mandated by the House of Representatives and the High Council of the State (6 + 6), that its members agreed on the laws regulating the presidential and parliamentary elections, scheduled for the end of this year, at the end of its meetings in the Moroccan city of Bouznika.

The ministry expressed in a statement its hope that the Libyan parties would formally sign the electoral laws as soon as possible, as an important step to end the crisis and enhance security and stability in Libya, according to the Emirates News Agency.

The Ministry reiterated the UAE’s firm position calling for resolving the conflict in Libya and its full support for what protects the security, stability, and unity of Libya, in accordance with the outcomes of the roadmap, UN Security Council resolutions, and the ceasefire agreement, to ensure the success of elections and the aspirations of brotherly Libyan people towards development, stability, and prosperity.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended Morocco’s efforts in making the dialogue and the important consensus reached a success in order to achieve a political settlement in Libya.
