Dubai: The UAE Food Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with the Endowment and Minors’ Trust Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) to foster community responsibility within both the public and private sectors by recognizing and enhancing contributions to charitable initiatives.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was formalized with the signatures of Dawoud Al Hajri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank, and Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai. Under this agreement, contributors to the UAE Food Bank’s charitable initiatives will be eligible to receive the ‘Waqf’ (endowment) mark, which is aligned with the guidelines set forth by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy.
Dawoud Al Hajri remarked on the significance of the agreement, stating that it exemplifies the UAE Food Bank’s commitment to forging robust partnerships across both sectors. This collaboration aims to establish comprehensive coordination frameworks to attract donors
and expand the impact of the UAE Food Bank’s initiatives. Through this partnership, entities and individuals contributing to the Bank’s charitable activities will be awarded the prestigious ‘Waqf’ mark.
Al Hajri further emphasized that the UAE Food Bank is part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, representing humanitarian values and social unity. The organization encourages generosity among individuals and corporations, striving to build a more compassionate society through awareness and educational campaigns, thereby setting a model for sustainable development.
Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, underscored the importance of the cooperation agreement in streamlining community contributions to charitable activities. The partnership sets clear regulations for entities contributing to the Foundation’s initiatives and broadens the scope for entities endorsed by the UAE Food Bank. It also promotes innovative approaches to endowment efforts, making the ‘Waqf’ mark acc
essible to a wider range of contributors.
Awqaf Dubai is dedicated to strengthening collaborative frameworks with institutions to enhance sustainable endowment initiatives and amplify their social impact. Their mission is to cultivate a culture of endowments within society through innovative humanitarian efforts that promote mutual support and solidarity across community groups.
Key provisions in the agreement require the UAE Food Bank to regularly review the status of entities receiving the ‘Waqf’ mark to ensure compliance with standards set by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy. The Bank must notify the Centre if nominated individuals or entities fail to meet these standards. The Centre will then be responsible for granting the ‘Waqf’ mark to nominees, ensuring adherence to guidelines and reviewing periodic reports from the UAE Food Bank regarding the nominated entities.
The ‘Waqf’ mark is an honour bestowed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy,
recognizing public and private sector entities with sustainable community contributions rooted in the innovative concept of endowment.
