UAE Embassy hosts ‘Emirati Cultural Days’ event in Ottawa


OTTAWA: Marking a significant milestone in showcasing UAE culture in Canada, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates hosted an ‘Emirati Cultural Days’ event from 12th to 14th October.

This celebration, held at Lansdowne Park and the Byward Market area in Ottawa, featured music, culture, art and history, along with dozens of Emirati artists and craftsmen.

The event aimed to enhance cultural exchange between the two countries, showcasing arts and crafts passed down throughseveral generations.

The event attracted thousands of visitors from different backgrounds in Canada to participate in the Emirati and Arab cultural events.

In her opening remarks before members of parliament, heads of diplomatic entities, and representatives from cultural organsations in Canada, Aalya Helal Al Shehhi, Chargé d’Affaires at the UAE Embassy, highlighted the event as a reflection of the UAE’s cultural diplomacy.

She also noted the event’s special significance in celebrating 50 years of close ties between the UAE and Canada, a
ffirming that culture serves as a bridge of communication, strengthening understanding and cooperation between nations.

Al Shehhi affirmed that this initiative aims to enhance the growing bilateral relations, and to advance cooperation in new areas to achieve the mutual interests of the two friendly nations across various fields.

The ‘Emirati Cultural Days’ event offered a significant number of activities and cultural events that saw enthusiastic participation, with guests taking part in the activities and live shows.

Another highlight of the event was the cutting-edge virtual museum, an innovative experience that allowed visitors to explore the UAE’s rich history and heritage through immersive digital exhibits and interactive virtual tours, in addition to a pavilion that showcased cultural and traditional movies.

A standout feature of the event was a dedicated station for Arabic calligraphy, showcasing the history of Arabic calligraphyand various designs.

The activities concluded with shows at Byward Ma
rket, which highlighted the UAE’s authentic cultural heritage.
