BEIJING: The UAE, represented by the UAE Accountability Authority, chaired by Humaid Obaid Abu Shabas, has joined the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) Steering Committee. The announcement of the UAE’s membership was made as the UAE participated in the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the GlobE Network, which took place in Beijing from 24th to 27th September 2024.

The UAE’s inclusion in the Steering Committee represents a significant step in enhancing its role in global anti-corruption efforts and showcases its commitment to fostering transparency and accountability through international collaboration.

The GlobE Network, an initiative under the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was launched in 2021 to foster international cooperation in the fight against corruption. The network currently includes 219 institutions from 121 countries, all of which are signatories to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). Through its activities,
the network facilitates the exchange of information, expertise, and best practices in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting corruption cases.
