Turkish president calls for self-restraint in occupied territories

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday called on both Israelis and Palestinians for self-restraint and refraining from escalatory action in the occupied territories.

Delivering a speech during participation in an exceptional conference of the ruling Justice and Development Party in the capital, Erdogan said Turkiye calls on the parties to “act with restraint” in light of the events in Israel and to avoid “steps that will escalate tensions”.

Palestinian fighters broke into Israeli settlements based on the Gaza Strip compound and clashed with some Israeli soldiers while missiles were being fired towards the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948.

Israel’s media announced that some Israeli soldiers were killed and wounded, while Israeli occupation forces launched raids on the Strip.
