Turkish Intelligence Announces The Killing Of A Prominent Leader In The Banned PKK In Northern Iraq

Turkish intelligence announced the killing of a prominent leader in the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in a security operation carried out in northern Iraq.

Turkish intelligence stated in a media circular today, Monday, that the leading figure of the PKK, Lokman Ismail, nicknamed / Shiar Mukhtar / had received training at the hands of the imprisoned leader of the organization / Abdullah Ocalan / and carried out armed activities inside Turkish territory between 1996 and 2004, and moved to the Zap region in 2004.

He is also accused of planning attacks against Turkish security forces in Sirnak province in previous years, and he also gave the order to launch a bomb attack on two cars in the Seyhan region of Adana province in 2019.

Turkish intelligence explained in its media circular that it had concluded that Ismail, a Syrian national, was moving around northern Iraq and that he had been active in the PKK for 30 years and was eliminated in a security operation Carried out in northern Iraq.
