Turkish Foreign Minister participates in the meeting of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee in the capital, Madrid

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to participate tomorrow, Friday, in the meeting of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit at the headquarters of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, to discuss activating the two-state solution and ending the conflict in the Middle East region.

The meeting will be attended by European foreign ministers, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to discuss activating the two-state solution between Israel and Palestine and ending the conflict in the Middle East region.

The meeting will be titled ‘Towards the Implementation of the Two-State Solution’ and will focus on discussing the necessary measures and procedures to activate this solution, in light of the growing concern about the situation in the Middle East region, and the countries participating in this meeting’s defense of the nee
d to give priority to dialogue and restore security and peace in this region.

The urgent and permanent consequences of the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the occupied West Bank will also be discussed, as well as discussing a ceasefire, recognizing Palestine as a state, and continuing efforts to activate the two-state solution process.

Through this meeting, Turkey is keen to emphasize ensuring a ceasefire and providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza without interruption, and to push the international community to pressure Israel, support the reconciliation process between the Palestinians, continue aid to UNRWA, and other issues related to the Palestinian cause.

The Palestinians took their new seat in the General Assembly last Tuesday, as they now sit according to the alphabetical order of the names of the countries, which is one of the new rights they obtained after an American veto prevented them this year from becoming a full member state in the international organization.

Turkey had previously joined a l
awsuit filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice, in which it presented evidence of Israel’s violation of its obligations under the UN Charter and its involvement in ‘committing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
