Turkey calls on the international community to rein in the Israeli government before the cycle of violence expands

Turkey called for reining in the Israeli administration, which it described as “no longer related to any human values,” warning of the expansion of the cycle of violence in the region.

The Turkish National Security Council said in a statement issued today, Thursday, after holding a meeting headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan: “The Israeli administration, which is devoid of any human values, must be reined in without delay.”

He stressed that “the Israeli government, which has explicitly declared that it has nothing to do with the law and human values, with the massacres it has committed despite the increasing reactions from the international community, must stop without delay, and if it does not, it may lead to the outbreak of a cycle of violence that may extend first to neighboring areas and then to the entire region.

The Council stressed in its statement that thanks to the Cyprus peace process implemented by Turkey within the framework of international agreements and as a guarantor state, an atmosphe
re of peace, calm and trust has prevailed throughout the island for half a century, leaving no room for doubt about the legitimacy and success of the process.”

Regarding the Syrian file, the Council stressed that Ankara will continue to provide support to reach a real social consensus that includes all parties in Syria to resolve the outstanding issues in this country, adding that cleansing Syrian territory of separatist terrorism will primarily guarantee Syria’s interests and survival.

Regarding Turkey’s firm stance to end the Cyprus issue, the statement noted that this is “our national issue, based on the two-state solution, equal sovereignty and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people, recognition of the Turkish Cypriots and preservation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an equal member of the international community.”

The statement stressed that “our constructive approach, which prioritizes dialogue on issues in the Aegean and Mediterranean, will not be allowed to be misuse
d; we will continue to relentlessly defend our rights and interests.”

The meeting discussed developments related to the war in Ukraine and recent diplomatic efforts, stressing the need to increase sincere multilateral efforts to establish a just and lasting peace before the war escalates and extends to the region, according to the statement.
