Trabelsi announces the deportation of 332 illegal migrants during the coming period.

The Designated Minister of Interior, Imad Trabelsi, announced the deportation of 486 illegal migrants voluntarily to their country, including 294 Egyptians and 293 Nigerians, in cooperation and coordination with their countries’ authorities.

Trabelsi added during a press conference at the headquarters of the Agency for Combating Illegal Immigration that 332 migrants of different African nationalities will be deported to their countries during the coming period, noting that a number of migrants who will be deported were caught at the Libyan-Tunisian borders after an agreement with the Tunisian side that serves the common interest of the two countries.

“Libya pays a huge bill due to illegal immigration, and it is a transit country and not a destination for migrants, highlighting that there are a number of migrants suffering from serious and chronic diseases, which poses a threat to the security and safety of citizens because a number of them work inside homes, especially women,” Trabelsi said.

He stated that the Ministry of Interior launched an expanded security campaign, with the participation of the relevant security services and after coordination with the Office of the Attorney General, to arrest human traffickers and those involved in these crimes, stressing that these efforts will be intensified in the coming period.

Trabelsi called on the international community and the EU to help Libya reduce this phenomenon, which has burdened the country with the presence of large numbers of migrants, noting that all security and military agencies are making efforts to combat this phenomenon and rescue migrants from the sea and desert.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Interior announced the voluntary deportation of 486 illegal migrants of Egyptian and Nigerian nationalities, in the presence of Trabelsi.
