Today, Thursday, October 10, newspapers issued in Baghdad focused on the official condemnation and popular anger over the attack on the supreme religious authority, and the confirmation of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to proceed with the completion of service projects in all Iraqi governorates.. and other topics, including the Kurdistan Region elections and the mutual accusations between the main parties in the region. The newspaper / Al-Sabah /, which is issued by the Iraqi Media Network, said in its condemnation of the attack on the religious authority: “We will not allow any party, side or enemy to attack our supreme authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani,” this is the state of mind of every patriotic Iraqis.
It added: “The religious authority is a red line, and it cannot be attacked in word or deed, as it is the safety valve of the country, and with its blessed fatwa we defeated the terrorist gangs of “ISIS”, and before that we crossed sectarianism, as it is the religious authority of the homeland, n
ot a specific sect or doctrine.”
It continued: “Yesterday, Wednesday, witnessed national anger initiated by the government, the presidency of the republic and parliament, political forces and citizens from all groups and orientations, against attacking the religious authority, as the government confirmed its rejection “in the strongest terms of any attack on the status of our religious authority, which enjoys the appreciation and respect of all the Iraqi people, the Arab and Islamic worlds, and the international community,” warning “of the danger of these attempts, based on a racist intellectual background and foundations that have gone too far in disregarding the sanctities of peoples, encourage the expansion of the circle of aggression and expose international peace and security to a real threat.
The newspaper pointed out that the Presidency of the Republic condemned “in the strongest terms the attack on the supreme authority in Iraq and the world through the media of the occupying entity,” calling on “th
e international community to take effective action and express urgent positions in rejecting any calls for hatred between peoples.”
It quoted the acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, as saying: “Targeting the religious authories and symbols of the nation is a despicable Zionist plot to undermine the sanctities of Muslims,” stressing “the rejection of any attack on the position of the supreme religious authority in Iraq and the world.”
As for Al-Zawraa newspaper, which is issued by the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, it was interested in Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s confirmation of proceeding with the completion of more service projects in all Iraqi governorates.
The newspaper highlighted on its front page Al-Sudani’s inaguration of Aden and Sana’a Square bridges, and his confirmation of the completion of 8 projects out of 19 projects.
It quoted the Prime Minister, confirming that Aden and Sana’a bridges project is the eighth project completed within a package of pr
ojects to relieve traffic congestion, appreciating the efforts made in the implementation, and the role of the Iraqi company implementing it with high specifications, and with precise details that were approved for the first time.
He pointed out his thanks to the people of Baghdad who endured the suffering of alternative roads, since the projects are being implemented in crowded places, and there are many conflicts,’ explaining ‘the credibility of the government that it has proven through implementing service projects, and addressing the stalled projects that have been suspended for years despite the difficulty and precision of their implementation, some of which date back to 2005.
Al-Zawraa also quoted a statement from the Prime Minister’s media office, saying: ‘Each governorate has priorities for projects. Governorates such as Babylon, Diwaniyah or Muthanna have priority for infrastructure projects, while in Baghdad, priority was for projects to relieve congestion and reduce traffic congestion, and the re
al suffering it causes to citizens. Eight projects out of 19 projects have been implemented, and they will be completed soon according to the specified technical specifications.’
In another political matter, Al-Zaman newspaper followed up on the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region and the differences and mutual accusations between the main parties in the region.
The newspaper said in this regard: ‘The competition in the Kurdistan Parliament elections has exceeded Kurdistan, to dangerous levels, according to the description of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which confirmed the existence of conspiracies that threaten the fate of the democratic process.
It added: “The street’s concern has increased about the existence of malicious intentions to exploit these circumstances and pass special agendas that threaten the integrity of the elections.”
Al-Zaman referred to a message sent by the Barty to voters, which stated: “We have previously announced several times our concern about the election proce
ss, and there is no doubt that the source of that concern was the availability of information we have, but it is not supported by documents proving that information.”
The message added: “By publishing a documented document that shows everyone the true face of the new leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, especially its president, Bafel and Qubad Talabani, who, in a bilateral conversation between them, expose their despicable conspiracy against the Kurdistan Region, democracy, the families of the martyrs and the heroic Peshmerga, and how they are planning fraud operations in their favor in a shameful manner,” according to the message.
It continued: “They are mocking the martyrs and their families, the heroic Peshmerga and the dear voters, so that they can, through conspiracies and fraud, distort the elections, change the course of this democratic process and tarnish its reputation.”
