Today’s newspapers continue to recall the Speicher tragedy…and preparations for the Iraqi National Press Day

Today, Thursday, the thirteenth of June, newspapers published in Baghdad continued recalling the Speicher tragedy, preparations for the Iraqi National Press Day… and other topics.

Al-Sabah newspaper, which is published by the Iraqi Media Network, devoted its main topic on its front page to recalling the Speicher tragedy committed by the terrorist organization ISIS.

The newspaper said: ‘The Iraqi people remembered with sadness yesterday, Wednesday, the 10th anniversary of the tragic tragedy and massacre of Speicher, in which hundreds of Air Force cadets were martyred at the hands of criminal groups in Salah al-Din Governorate in 2014.’

It referred to what Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said, on the occasion: ‘The tenth anniversary of the Speicher crime committed by the dark terrorist groups has passed, as that crime represented concrete evidence of the lack of conscience and moral decline of its perpetrators who sold their consciences and souls to evil, so they deserved shame and disgrace, after
suffering defeats after defeats at the hands of our heroic security forces, and their gangs became defeated remnants that did not pose any threat to the security of our country.’

Al-Sudani added: ‘Our government will continue to do justice to all the martyrs of Iraq and will not delay in doing so, based on its national, legal, moral and humanitarian duty.’

Al-Sabah newspaper continued: ‘The Popular Mobilization Forces held a memorial forum ceremony for the tenth anniversary of the painful Speicher tragedy at the site of the Speicher massacre in Salah al-Din Governorate, in the presence of a number of security officials, leaders of the Popular Mobilization, and the families of the martyrs of the painful tragedy.’

It quoted the head of the Tikrit Massacre Commemoration Committee, Moin Al-Kadhimi, as saying: ‘All of the martyrs were members of the Ministry of Defense,’ stressing the need to create a memorial in every governorate for the martyrs of the massacre to commemorate them and their sacrifices.

It ref
erred to the words of the Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali: ‘as we shake on the hands of the Iraqi judiciary and the efforts of the international investigation team to complete the comprehensive report on the massacre, and consider it a crime committed with the intention of genocide in Iraq, and crimes against humanity and war crimes, We extend our prayers for the souls of the innocent martyrs who were betrayed for mercy and forgiveness, and for their families for patience and solace, and we appeal to the government to fulfill the rights of the martyrs and take care of their families.’
