The Israeli Federation of Trade Unions called for a general strike today, Monday, which paralyzed several sectors in Israel, to pressure the government to reach an agreement to return the Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
This strike aims to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conclude a swap deal to return the hostages held by Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.
The head of the Israeli Federation of Trade Unions “Histadrut” Arnon Bar David called on all civilian workers to join the strike.
He said: Ben Gurion Airport, the main air transport hub in Israel, will be closed starting at 8:00 am local time (05:00 GMT).
The Israeli Manufacturers Association and the Tel Aviv Municipal Services Authority joined the strike, criticizing the government for its failure to return the hostages alive, which they described as a “moral duty.
