The US Central Command announced the targeting of a prominent leader of the “Al-Qaeda” organization, with a strike in northwestern Syria.
A statement by the command stated, “This morning, the US Central Command forces carried out a unilateral strike in northwestern Syria, targeting a prominent al-Qaeda leader.”
“This operation reaffirms CENTCOM’s unwavering commitment to the region and the enduring defeat of ISIS and al-Qaeda,” said US Central Command commander Gen. Eric Kurella.
The statement did not mention the identity of the person who was targeted, nor did it provide any other details.
