The US Army announced that it had monitored the launch of the Yemeni “Ansar Allah” (Houthis) group, two ballistic missiles from areas under its control towards the Red Sea, as part of its attacks, which the group says target ships linked to Israel, the United States, and Britain.
The US Central Command said, in an update on the ‘X’ platform, ‘In the past 24 hours, the Houthis launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles from the areas they control in Yemen, into the Red Sea.’
It added, “No casualties or damage were reported by US coalition, or commercial vessels.”
The US Central Command considered that “this continued malicious and reckless behavior by the Houthis threatens regional stability and exposes the lives of sailors across the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to danger,” as it put it.
This comes the day after the Ansar Allah group announced an attack on a military target in the Umm al-Rashrash area (Eilat), southern Israel, with a new missile that the group revealed for the first time, called ‘Palestin
e,’ stressing that ‘the operation successfully achieved its goal.’
Last Saturday, Ansar Allah announced targeting the US aircraft carrier Eisenhower and an American destroyer in the Red Sea and attacking three ships in the Red and Arabian Seas and the Indian Ocean, with missiles and drones.
The developments came days after Ansar Allah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi vowed to escalate his group’s attacks, which he says are targeting ships linked to Israel, America and Britain, revealing an increase in the total number of ships targeted in the Red and Arab Bahrain, the Gulf of Aden, the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, since last November to 129 Israeli, American and British ships.
