The Secretary-General of the UN expresses his solidarity with Muslims and condemns acts of violence, intolerance and Islamophobia

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres expressed, today, Friday, his solidarity with Muslims and condemned acts of violence, intolerance and Islamophobia.

Spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said in a statement: “The Secretary-General, António Guterres, met with the group of Ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and expressed the determination of the United Nations system to fully implement the Human Rights Council resolution on combating religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”

He added that Guterres “affirmed his solidarity with the Muslim community and condemned acts of fanaticism, violence and Islamophobia that exacerbate tensions and contribute to discrimination and extremism.”/ End
