The Russian President warns Poland against direct interference in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Poland against efforts to mobilize an alliance under the umbrella of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and direct intervention in Ukraine to seize its western regions.

During the meeting of the Russian Security Council, Putin reminded Poland of the Soviet Union’s assistance to it to restore its lands in World War II, stressing that a step such as entering Belarusian lands would have “extremely dangerous” consequences.

The Russian President also directed the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, to monitor Poland’s plans for Ukraine.

Spokesman for the Russian presidency (the Kremlin), Dmitry Peskov, expressed Yesterday, his concern about the redeployment of two Polish brigades on the border with Belarus, Moscow’s most important ally, considering this position “truly aggressive towards both Russia and Belarus.”

At the beginning of July, Poland announced that it would send 500 policemen from the “anti-terrorist units” to the border with Belarus, before sending 1,200 soldiers from the 12th and 17th brigades to the same area.
