The Republican Party chooses Trump to run in the US presidential elections

The American Republican Party officially chose Donald Trump as a candidate to run in the presidential elections against US President Joe Biden, who is seeking a second term.

Trump received the necessary majority of delegate votes at the Republican Party convention held in the state of Wisconsin today.

Delegates are party members who are sent to the nominating convention from all states and territories, and the delegates formally announce their votes for their party’s presidential candidate based on the results of the primary elections in their state or territory.

Prior to his official selection to run in the US presidential elections scheduled for next November, Trump announced that he had chosen J.D. Vance, a senator from Ohio, to assume the position of Vice President of the United States
