The PUK responds to the extension of the flight ban to Sulaymaniyah: Turkey will not subjugating us

The spokeswoman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc in the House of Representatives, Suzan Mansour, said today, Saturday, that Turkey’s pressure will not succeed in subjugating us, after Ankara renewed the ban on flights to Sulaymaniyah.

Mansour said in a tweet on her official account on the ‘X’ platform, ‘Once again, Turkey bans its airspace for flights heading to Sulaymaniyah International Airport, an unfair decision and a declared targeting of the Iraqi economist.’

She added: “The federal government and the regional government are directly responsible for this, and they must approach the Turkish side, and their pressure on a political component and subjugating it will not succeed.”

Earlier today, the director of Sulaymaniyah International Airport, Hendren Hiwa, said that Turkey extended the ban on flights with Sulaymaniyah Airport until 12/7/2024.

Ankara had previously extended the suspension of flights to and from Sulaymaniyah International Airport twice, the last of which was on 12/23/2023, whe
n it announced the extension of the ban until 6/22/2024.
