The President Stresses The Importance Of Strengthening The Existing Bilateral Relations Between Iraq And Estonia

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Iraq and Estonia.

A presidential statement stated: “The president met today, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pefkor and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Defense Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi.”

At the beginning of the meeting, the President spoke about the possibility of strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Iraq and Estonia, and benefiting from military and security expertise, in a way that enhances the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces.

He added that cooperation between the two countries could include other fields such as technology, education and health, expressing the desire for the visit to be a positive message that contributes to urging everyone to visit and work in Iraq.

Regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, he expressed his hope that the war would stop and that constructive dialogue would be adopted to end the differences and restore security and peace.

For his part, Minister Hanno Pefkor expressed his happiness for this visit and meeting with the President of the Republic, stressing Estonia’s support for the security and stability of Iraq, and the aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

He praised the positive developments that took place in Iraq, noting that the Iraqi security forces are constantly developing and improving in performing their role in combating terrorism and consolidating security.
