The President of the Republic Visits the Shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Kilani

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, today visited the shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Kilani.

Upon the President’s arrival to the shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Kilani, he was received by the Honorable Mutawali, Sheikh Afif al-Din al-Kilani, and a gathering of scholars, sheikhs, and clerics. After that, the President of the Republic performed the ceremony of visiting the shrine of Sheikh Abd al-Qadir al-Kilani, praying to God Almighty to preserve Iraq and bless the Iraqis with more goodness, security, and stability.

The President wrote a word in the record of visits and he also looked at the Qadiriyah Library, which includes many copies of the Qur’an, documents, books and precious historical manuscripts, stressing the need to preserve and pay attention to this great heritage, and to encourage religious tourism.

During his meeting with the Sheikh Afif Al-Din Al-Kilani and those in charge of it, the President stressed the importance of the positive role of clerics in strengthening the social fabric at this stage by adopting moderate discourse, spreading a culture of tolerance and brotherhood, combating extremist ideology, and rejecting violence, hatred and division.

In turn, Sheikh Al-Kilani praised the President’s visit to the shrine, which indicates the extent of his interest in religious and holy shrines, and his keenness to support the efforts of clerics in strengthening national unity and protecting social peace.

Sheikh Afif Al-Kilani reviewed some of the issues facing them, the restoration and expansion operations, and dealing with the damage that the shrine was exposed to as a result of weather conditions, and in this regard, the President instructed the technical contribution of the Engineering Department in the Presidency in this regard.
