The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced today, Sunday, the numbers of alliances, parties and individuals scheduled to participate in the upcoming local elections.
The IHEC stated, according to the official agency (INA), that “the total number of alliances, parties and individuals scheduled to participate in the upcoming local elections were distributed as follows:
1- The number of participating alliances is 38
2- The number of participating parties, excluding component parties, is 28
3- The number of participating parties for the components is only 8
4- The number of participating component parties is 10
5- The total number of candidates is 6022
6- The number of candidates for alliances is 4223
7- The number of party candidates is 1729
8- The number of individual candidates is 70
9- The number of individual candidates for the general seat is 22
10- The number of Christians’ candidates is 16
11- The number of Sabian candidates is 10
12- The number of Faili Kurdish candidates is 13
13- The number of Shabak is 5
14- The number of Yazidi candidates is 4
15- The number of component candidates is 48
16- The total number of alliances, parties and individuals is 136.”
