The Ministry of Planning discusses with a UNDP the implementation of the principles of the global partnership for effective development cooperation


Baghdad: The International Cooperation Department in the Ministry of Planning held, on Tuesday, a three-day workshop in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program ( UNDP) on implementing the principles of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation and the monitoring framework.

The representative of the United Nations Development Program, Danila Boneva, said during a presentation she gave about the principles of the global partnership, according to a statement by the Ministry of Planning: The main goal of the partnership is to collect data on grants and achieve transparency through which certain indicators are reached to determine the basic elements of effective development, to know and determine levels of benefit.

She added, “A joint framework has been developed by donor countries to unify international efforts with regard to evaluating and following up on the aid and loans granted to beneficiary countries in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, which include se
venteen goals, related to eradicating poverty, achieving gender equality, and quality education to support the vulnerable group in the society.”

She pointed out that “the two sides agreed on work priorities on how to obtain realistic evidence for effective development by submitting studies and reports to evaluate the extent to which beneficiary countries benefit from the sustainable development goals, to achieve sustainability in work.”

She stressed “the importance of creating dialogues at international levels, to increase political awareness and achieve the best ways of international partnership in the areas of financing and financial support. The workshop was attended by a number of members of the relevant departments in the ministry.”
