The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the appointment of a head of the negotiation committee with the Kuwaiti side, who holds the Kuwaiti nationality.
The Ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, said in a statement: “A number of media outlets and social networking sites circulated the content of a tweet by a member of the Iraqi Parliament, that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed a head of the negotiation committee with the Kuwaiti side, who holds Kuwaiti nationality.”
He added: “While we deny the validity of what is being circulated regarding the undersecretary of the Ministry holding the Kuwaiti nationality, we point out and remind that the Ministry works to take care of the supreme interests of the Iraqi state and works in the context of the interest of the dear Iraqi people, without compromising Iraq’s sovereignty or its national interests.”
He called on the media to be careful in deliberation, pointing out to the public opinion that the Ministry reserves the legal right and will resort to prosecuting those who use this file for the purpose of political or media bidding.
