The Minister of Transport participates in the Middle East Railways Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi

The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, participated in the opening session of the seventeenth session of the Middle East Railways Exhibition and Conference, which started today, Monday, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of a number of transport ministers and heads of Boards of Directors of companies, CEOs of the largest railways companies in the world, as well as a group of important figures in the fields of transportation, and representatives of manufacturers.

The Ministry said in a statement, “the conference, which will last for two days, reviews aspects of environmentally friendly sustainable transport, and aims to provide an opportunity for the government sector and the private sector to present best practices in the field of railways networks and sustainable transport systems, in line with future visions for the Middle East region, North Africa and Asia, in addition to developing joint cooperation plans and programs to improve the future of the railways transport sector.

On the sidelines of the session, the Minister and his accompanying delegation toured the Middle East Railways Exhibition 2023, while they discussed with a number of officials ways of cooperation in the various fields of transport.

The Minister put forward “the Iraqi government’s vision in its dealings with the railways sector, noting that Iraq has launched a comprehensive plan to develop the transportation system in various sectors, making Iraq a center for global trade and logistics.”

Al-Saadawi referred to the increasing investments in the railways sector, stressing that the Iraqi government is seeking to achieve a balance between road transport and rail transport.
