The Minister of Transport discusses with the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration ways of joint cooperation in all areas of the transport sector


The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, discussed, today, Saturday, with the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Nabil Ammar, ways of joint cooperation in all areas of the transport sector.

A statement from the Ministry of Transport stated that Al-Saadawi met, today, Saturday, at the Guest Palace in Baghdad, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Nabil Ammar, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss joint cooperation and exchange of experiences in the transport sector between the two brotherly countries.

The statement added: ‘The meeting discussed the importance of activating the Baghdad-Tunisia line, by preparing an economic feasibility study to ensure the success of this line and achieving high filling rates, in addition to the necessity of exchanging experiences between the two brotherly countries with regard to the transport sector in general.’

The minister said, according to the statement: We discussed with the Tunisian Foreign Minister ways of jo
int cooperation in all areas of the transport sector, whether (marine, air, rail and port), and we also discussed the strategic development road project and its economic importance to the region and the world.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Republic of Tunisia said, ‘We have great interest in activating the (Baghdad-Tunisia) line, and there will be a number of facilities with the Iraqi side, most notably the speed in granting entry visas to Iraqis,’ expressing his country’s desire to cooperate with Iraq in all fields and to exchange experiences in particular In the field of transportation.

The Tunisian minister added: ‘The coming period of Tunisian-Iraqi relations will achieve a qualitative leap in the field of transportation through joint cooperation between the two countries.’

According to the statement, the meeting witnessed the presentation of many issues that contribute to developing a vision, which focused on agreeing to form technical committees to discuss futur
e agreements or memorandums of understanding that include a mechanism for coordination and cooperation between the two countries in order to develop the transport sector in general.

It is noteworthy that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, arrived in Baghdad, today, to participate in the work of the (17th) session of the joint Iraqi-Tunisian committee.
