The Interior Ministers of Libya and Italy discuss cooperation in the field of exchanging strategic and operational information

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantidozzi discussed with his Libyan counterpart, Imad Trabelsi, the strengthening of security cooperation relations between the two friendly countries in the field of exchanging strategic and operational information.

This came during the meeting held between them on the sidelines of the ministerial conference on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Palermo Agreement and the international conference organized by the Italian government in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention, according to what was published by the Italian AKI news agency.

During the meeting, Piantidozzi expressed his solidarity with the Libyan people in the human and material losses resulting from the devastating floods that swept areas in eastern Libya, expressing Italy’s readiness to support the affected families.

The Italian official also stressed the importance of continuing the exchange of strategic and operational information between Rome and Tripoli, announcing that he is pushing for a project with Europol to enhance information investigation activities regarding combating human traffickers.

The Italian Minister of the Interior indicated in statements published by the AKI agency that he assured the European Council of Justice and Home Affairs to increase funding for supported voluntary return projects and to promote the economic reintegration of migrants in their countries of origin.
