The First Meeting of the Joint Egyptian-Bulgarian Cooperation Committee


In order to strengthen the distinguished bilateral relations and continued cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Basil Rahmi, CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, participated in the activities of the first meeting of the Joint Cooperation Committee between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Bulgaria, which was held in Cairo on Saturday, 10 February 2024.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sameh Shoukry, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Ms. Maria Gabriel, a number of ministers from the two countries, and a number of senior high-level officials from the two countries.

The meeting discussed the two sides’ keenness to strengthen bilateral relations in all political, economic, commercial and social fields.

Mr. Basil Rahmi stressed the keenness of the Enterprise Development Authority to strengthen partnerships with the State of Bulgaria by examining cooperation
opportunities in various economic and commercial sectors, supporting small and medium-sized companies, encouraging emerging companies of mutual benefit, especially in the fields of innovative economy, digital transformation, and developing mechanisms for transitioning to a green economy.

Bassel Rahmi stressed the continuation of work during the coming period in order to develop bilateral relations, through agreeing to sign a joint memorandum of understanding between the Enterprise Development Agency and the Bulgarian Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises with the aim of exchanging and transferring expertise in the field of supporting and developing small projects and organizing joint exhibitions in a way that contributes to developing Egyptian exports and supporting the economic relations of the two countries, the two sides agreed that the coming period will witness continued cooperation to advance the small and medium enterprises sector in both countries.
