Algeria: Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed his country’s intention to establish free trade zones with neighboring countries, including Libya.
Tebboune said in a speech via Zoom during the 41st meeting of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD), that in 2024 Algeria will establish free trade zones with Mauritania, the Sahel countries (Mali and Niger), as well as Tunisia and Libya.
The Algerian President stressed the importance of achieving economic development and continental integration, with a focus on improving the efficiency of African economic integration processes.
Tebboune stressed the need to improve the infrastructure and regional networks for production and trade, by enhancing production capabilities, enhancing the role of the industrial sector, and engaging in global value-added chains
