Syrian-Iraqi cooperation leads to the dismantling of an ISIS cell in Al-Hasakah

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced, on Sunday, the dismantling of an ISIS cell in rural Al-Hasakah, with the participation of the Anti-Terrorism Units in Sulaymaniyah and the International Coalition.

The SDF said in a statement, “Within the framework of its joint operations with partners to combat the remnants of cells of the terrorist organization ISIS, the Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) of the Syrian Democratic Forces, with the participation of the Anti-Terrorism Service of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the International Coalition, were able, yesterday, Saturday, to The dismantling of an active cell of the terrorist organization ISIS, consisting of four mercenaries working to support and supply the organization’s cells with weapons and military equipment.

It explained that the “partner units and forces” raided the hideouts of the cell’s members in the town of Markada, south of Hasakah, and surrounded their homes and searched them thoroughly.

The SDF added, according to the statement, that “a quantity of weapons and technical equipment they had in their possession was confiscated, and the cell members were arrested.”

It added, “They found in their possession communication devices, various weapons, and documents proving their connection and affiliation with the terrorist organization ISIS.”

The SDF forces confirmed that they “continue to carry out their joint tasks with partners in the region, pursue remnants of ISIS terrorist cells, and impose security and stability in the region.”
