Suicide attack kills 3 soldiers, 7 militants in N. Pakistan – military

At least three soldiers and seven militants were killed in a coordinated suicide attack and incidents of violence in Pakistan?’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan, said military on Friday.

According to Pakistan military?’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), a suicide bomber riding a motorbike exploded himself near a security forces post in Lakki Marwat disitrct of KPK leading to an exchange of fire with them.

“As a result, the security forces effectively engaged the terrorists and killed four of them,” said ISPR, confirming that three soldiers of the Pakistan army were killed while gallantly fighting the “terrorists”.

Moreover, three more militants, including their commander, were killed in two different encounters in general areas Amir Kalam and Tajbi Khel of district Lakki Marwat. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from all the seven killed terrorists, it said.

Earlier this week, at least two soldiers of Pakistan army and as many militants were killed in exchange of fire with militants in Tirah area of Khyber district in KPK.

The attack by the militants came at a time when Pakistan military has paced up security operations across the country following a rise in militant attacks since the banned outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year
