At least four people were killed and four others were injured on Saturday in a drone attack by the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a hospital in the city of Omdurman, west of the capital Khartoum.
The strike targeted the emergency section at the hospital, killing four civilians on spot and wounding four others seriously, the Ministry of Health said in a press statement.
In the meantime, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced that its forces are chasing RSF in the southwestern parts of city of Omdurman.
On Friday, heavy clashes re-erupted between the two rivals: the SAF and the RSF in the cities of Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri.
The Sudanese army said Friday that it had launched a “successful” wide-scale manhunt in the cities of Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri, but recognized that it had suffered losses in Bahri.
For its part, the RSF claimed that they had intercepted an attack by the Sudanese army involving 130 combat vehicles in north Bahri and they had seized several vehicles, and killed and captured scores of soldiers.
Since April 15, Sudan has been witnessing clashes between the army and RSF in Khartoum and other cities, which have so far claimed the lives of thousands and led to the displacement of about two and a half million people.
Participants in the Cairo-held summit of Sudan’s neighboring countries on Thursday emphasized that it was essential to resolve Sudan’s internal conflict by peaceful means and to launch a political process that could meet the expectations and hopes of the Sudanese people.
