SHARJAH: The Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security and Public Utilities Affairs Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) discussed plans and policies to revive and advance the fishing profession in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the efforts made to develop this sector, during its visit, on Tuesday, to the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority at its headquarters in the city of Sharjah.
The committee discussed all the roles played by the Authority, the events and activities it organises, and its continuing efforts to preserve and develop fish wealth.
The committee visit came within the framework of preparation for discussing the policy of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority by SCC during a public session that is currently being prepared as part of the Council’s work for the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term.
Ahmed Rashid Al Shamsi, rapporteur of the committee, pointed out that this visit comes within the framework of the committee’s preparation to discuss the Authority’s
policy during the next session.
Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, Chairman of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority, briefed the members on the different efforts of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority and its programmes in working to develop fish resources in cooperation with fishermen’s associations and concerned authorities, and their research and study efforts and developing suggestions and solutions for any problems related to fish resources.
SCC members discussed mechanisms to enhance the Council’s cooperation with the Authority to enable it to perform its effective and important role.
