Shakshak and Berndt discuss the financial and economic situation of the country.


Tripoli: The Head of the Libyan Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, discussed with Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Jeremy Berndt, accompanied by the Interim Director of the USAID, Alison Noble, enhancing the partnership between the Bureau and the Agency.

The meeting, which was held at the Bureau’s headquarters in Tripoli, was attended by representatives of the US Treasury and State Departments and officials from the Agency, in addition to the Director of the General Department of Sovereign Sector Control and the Director of the General Department of Human Resources at the Bureau.

The meeting discussed ways to develop human resources and work guides, extend the agreement signed between the Bureau and USAID for two years, expand development operations, and apply the audit work guides in their practical aspects.

The consultations also discussed the importance of audit work at this stage and raising the level of transparency and disclosure by supporting the Bureau’s results and recommendations and enhancing
its role in accountability and law enforcement.

The two sides reviewed the financial and economic situation of the country, the Bureau’s vision for confronting potential risks during the next stage, and ways to mitigate their severity and address their effects to ensure the stability of the situation.
