Sewilam: research, creativity important to address water resources’ challengesSpace Falcon, Cruden participate in UMEX and SimTEX 2024

Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hany Sewilam has underlined the need to encourage creativity and research to find innovative solutions for facing water resources management-linked challenges.

The minister’s remarks came during a meeting held on Thursday with the teamwork of the Joint Cooperation in Applied Research Program (JCAR); a long-term Program between Egypt and the Netherlands in water-related topics, to review the project’s progress.

He thanked the teamwork members for their great efforts, urging them to do further efforts to serve the Irrigation Ministry’s vision to achieve integrated management of water potentials and enhance sustainable development of water, land and resources.

Sewilam also praised strong cooperation between Egypt and the Netherlands since the 1970s, directing for strengthening partnership between Egyptian and Dutch institutes.

ABU DHABI: Space Falcon and Cruden companies participated in UMEX and SimTEX 2024 with a set of innovative unmanned aerial systems and simulators.

John Luca, Chief Technology Officer of Space Falcon, an Abu Dhabi company that was established six years ago, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the company is participating in the exhibition with its automatic flight system.

The company is showcasing three unmanned drone systems that have the ability to fly 24/7 through an automated battery-changing system, he said.

For his part, Edwin de Vries, Chief Technology Officer of Cruden, the Amsterdam-based company that specialises in manufacturing simulators, said that the company is exhibiting its state-of-the-art fast graft simulator that trains fast boats’ pilots and navigators.

This simulator is used to train crews before they begin their actual training on the water, he added.

The UMEX and SimTEX exhibitions are organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), in cooperation with the UAE
Ministry of Defence, and take place until 25th January. The event provides a platform to discuss the latest developments, trends and innovations in the UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) sector.
