Second ‘Shusha Global Media Forum’ concludes in Azerbaijan

The second Shusha Global Media Forum wrapped up on Monday with discussions centred around Azerbaijan’s hosting the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in November.

The forum, themed “Unmasking False Narratives: Confronting Disinformation”, highlighted concerns about Western media’s adoption of unrealistic accusations against oil and gas-producing countries and their climate impact.

Dr. Elnur Soltanov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Energy, stated that climate issues are not solely related to oil and gas but are influenced by various significant factors.

He added that COP discussions address mechanisms to mitigate negative climate changes and reduce pollution impacts globally, emphasising that the COP’s work is sustainable and not dependent on how countries organise it.

Dr. Soltanov stressed that transparent media coverage of various issues benefits humanity worldwide.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the three-day forum, which included over 200 media exper
ts and leaders from around the world.
