RUWD concludes 10th ‘Business Stars’ with nine student projects


SHARJAH: The Sharjah Foundation to Support Entrepreneurs (RUWAD), affiliated with the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), concluded the tenth “mini” version of its annual “Business Stars” initiative, held over three days at Al Rahmaniyah Mall in Sharjah.

Nine student projects participated in the initiative, organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Academy of Police Science, affiliated with the Sharjah Police General Command. This initiative was part of the summer “Police Friends” programme, which involves various government agencies and institutions.

Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences, stated that the initiative aimed to support children and encourage them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and leadership skills, transforming these into future projects. The determination of the 22 participating students, who presented nine diverse projects, was key to the initiative’s success. This initiative is one of the most significant i
n motivating young people to enter the world of trade and business. It also saw broad participation from government institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Fatima Al Ali, Acting Director of the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects (RUWAD), stated that the Foundation is dedicated to spreading the culture of entrepreneurship among children, school, and university students. By motivating and encouraging them to take their first steps in freelance business and entrepreneurship through small projects, the Foundation seeks to involve them in various exhibitions and activities throughout the year.

She added that RUWAD organised an introductory day for students over three days before the initiative’s launch, which included a series of training workshops to teach them the basics and skills of entrepreneurship, conducted by specialised trainers and consultants. Additionally, the Foundation granted the participating students 9,000 dirhams to support and ensure their readiness for successful proje
ct participation.
