Russia remains one of leading energy market players: Putin

MOSCOW: Russia remains among leading participants in the global energy market despite considerable difficulties, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week forum (REW), according to the Russian News Agency (TASS).

“Contrary to objective difficulties; everybody is well aware of them, difficulties, in actual fact, are with everybody, all of us have our considerable difficulties. Russia nevertheless remains one of leading energy market participants globally,” the head of state said.

National companies managed to shift deliveries of oil, petroleum products and coal over the last two years, the president stressed.

He said Russia remains a reliable supplier of energy resources to the global market and plays a stabilising role in it.

President Putin also noted that friendly countries account for over 90 percent of Russia’s energy exports. “Earlier the share of the Asia-Pacific region in our energy exports was about 39 percent, by the end of last year it had grown 1.5-
fold and already exceeded 60 percent. In general, friendly countries account for more than 90 percent of Russia’s energy exports, while their physical volume, with the exception of natural gas, which is also understandable for experts, has remained practically at the 2021 level,” Putin said.

The 7th international forum, Russian Energy Week, is taking place in Moscow from 26th to 28th September 2024, under the theme ‘Energy Cooperation in a Multipolar World.’

Organised by the Roscongress Foundation and Russia’s Ministry of Energy, with support from the Russian government and the Moscow city government, the forum aims to showcase the potential of the Russian energy sector and foster international cooperation in the field.

The event will feature more than 30 thematic sessions and business dialogues in five key areas, including international cooperation, sustainable energy development, technology, and the development strategy of the fuel and energy complex, according to the organisers.
