RAK’s Dazzling New Year’s Eve Display Sets Two World Records


RAS AL KHAIMAH: Ras Al Khaimah ushered in the year 2025 with an awe-inspiring New Year’s Eve celebration, featuring an elaborate drone and fireworks display that set two new Guinness World Records. The Emirate achieved the titles for the “largest aerial display of a tree formed by multirotors/drones” and the “largest aerial image of a seashell formed by multirotors/drones,” marking a significant milestone in its cultural and technological showcase.

According to Emirates News Agency, the event, themed “Our Story in the Sky,” highlighted Ras Al Khaimah’s natural and cultural heritage, transforming the way the world celebrates the new year. The spectacle combined three-dimensional drone artistry, lasers, and synchronized pyrotechnics to create a dynamic and immersive experience. The visuals paid homage to the Emirate’s iconic landscapes and cultural symbols.

Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, remarked on the success of the event, stating, “This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration
s are a fitting tribute to Ras Al Khaimah’s incredible achievements in tourism throughout 2024. Securing two Guinness World Records titles with such a spectacular and meaningful display reflects the innovative spirit and cultural pride that define our Emirate.”

The display stretched over five kilometers along the Ras Al Khaimah waterfront and unfolded in three distinct acts. “Shifting Sands” illustrated the Emirate’s evolving ecosystem and its connection to the land. “Mysteries of the Sea” honored Ras Al Khaimah’s maritime traditions, including pearl diving, with evocative depictions of underwater life. The final act, “Guiding Starlight,” celebrated the Emirate’s seafaring history with celestial imagery and concluded with a breathtaking pyrotechnic finale.

The event drew over 100,000 residents and visitors who gathered at beachfront resorts and the Ras Al Khaimah New Year 2025 Festival. The festival, which offered free entry, provided a variety of spaces for families and individuals, as well as dedicated ar
eas for camping, caravans, and RVs, catering to outdoor enthusiasts.
