Raafat: The president will renew his demand that the State of Palestine be given full membership

Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Democratic Union “Fida”, Comrade Saleh Raafat, indicated that President Mahmoud Abbas will inform the United Nations General Assembly next Thursday about the crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, as well as the Palestinian position, It will renew its demand on the international community to put an end to the crimes of the occupation and stand up to Israel’s policies based on preventing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital through settlement expansion and the annexation of Palestinian lands in blatant defiance of the resolutions of international legitimacy related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and with the absolute support of the American administration.

Raafat added in a statement, today, Tuesday: The President will renew the demand of the international community and the United Nations General Assembly to grant the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations in light of Israel’s failure to implement any of the General Assembly or UN Security Council resolutions, including the condition of Israel’s admission to the body. The General Assembly of the United Nations implements UN Resolutions 181 and 194.

He also pointed out that the President will stress in his speech the importance of not being satisfied with expressions of denunciation in response to Israeli crimes, and moving towards working to take actual decisions on the ground that obligate Israel to stop its violations and crimes, whether in East Jerusalem or throughout the rest of the West Bank governorates or on the borders of the Gaza Strip.

At the end of his statement, Raafat welcomed the meeting chaired by the Saudi Foreign Minister, along with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, on the sidelines of the work of the United Nations General Assembly, which aimed to discuss the revival of the peace process in the Middle East, in the presence of representatives of about 70 countries and international organizations, and about 50 speakers from Various countries of the world, where this meeting was held in accordance with the decision taken by the last meeting of Arab foreign ministers at the Arab League in Cairo to work towards accepting the membership of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations and to also work to hold an international conference to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict or regarding the conflict.
