Queens Mass Shooting Injures 13 Teens Outside Event Space, Police Seek Suspects

NEW YORK: A mass shooting in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York City, resulted in injuries to 13 teenagers when police reported that multiple suspects opened fire outside an event venue. The incident occurred shortly after 11:15 p.m. on New Year’s Day, outside the Amazura Concert Hall on 144th Place.

According to Emirates News Agency, law enforcement is currently in pursuit of four male suspects who allegedly fired into a group of approximately 15 individuals gathered outside the venue. The police reported that around 90 people were inside the private event space at the time. Sources have indicated that attendees were present for a vigil in memory of 16-year-old Taearion Mungo, who was fatally shot in October.

The event space reached its capacity, leading to a line forming outside. It was at this point that the four suspects reportedly approached from 91st Avenue and discharged about 30 rounds into the waiting crowd. The police continue to investigate the incident, urging anyone with information to come forward.
