Public Prosecution participates in first summit of G20 prosecutors in Brazil


RIO DE JANEIRO: The Public Prosecution participated in the First Summit of the Heads of Prosecution Services of Group of Twenty member states (PG20), which was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the invitation of the Attorney General of the Republic of Brazil, in the presence of heads and representatives of public prosecutors from various member states. The meeting focussed on the issue of ‘combating organised crime, promoting justice and socio-environmental sustainability”.

The Public Prosecution delegation was headed by First Attorney General, Sultan Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Juwaied.

During the Summit, state representatives discussed ways to enhance international cooperation in combating organised crime, including human trafficking, environmental crimes and the protection of human rights, and brainstormed on new strategies and mechanisms to deal with common challenges, and how to use modern technology and artificial intelligence to analyse evidence and track criminals.

The Public Prosecution presented a pape
r in which it affirmed its commitment to joint work to achieve speedy justice, develop legal mechanisms to protect the rights of individuals, combat organised crime, achieve environmental sustainability, and effective tools to combat these crimes at the international and national levels. It also reviewed the role of modern technology in combating cross-border crime and how to benefit from it in the work of the Public Prosecution.
