ABU DHABI: The Federal Public Prosecution has announced the development of an innovative digital system based on artificial intelligence to enhance and expedite its procedures.
According to a statement by the Federal Public Prosecution, this system, which is the first of its kind in the UAE, is part of its ‘strategic direction to adopt digital and advanced technologies in criminal justice, support innovation, and future foresight, in line with the UAE government’s directives toward digital transformation.’
This announcement follows a cooperation and partnership agreement signed by the Federal Public Prosecution with AI71, a leading company in developing AI solutions for governmental and private sectors, and part of the Advanced Technology Research Council.
The agreement was signed at the Office of the Attorney General and the Federal Prosecutions in Abu Dhabi, by Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs, Secretary-General and Board Memb
er of the Advanced Technology Research Council, and Counsellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, in the presence of several officials from both sides.
The new digital system relies on AI in its design and development to support work mechanisms, improve the efficiency of investigation procedures, enhance criminal justice, and provide legal support to ensure precise and effective judicial decisions, aiming to achieve swift and efficient criminal justice.
The new digital work system has been specifically developed to support the UAE’s criminal legal system, with the ability to adapt it to work in various legal systems around the world. It features the ability to conduct precise legal research, including analysing and reorganising the facts of criminal cases, making annotations on images, audio recordings, and video clips, transcribing them, retrieving information and legal principles and linking them to case facts and criminal precedents instantly, and presenting legal and jurisprudential opinion
s, contributing to a comprehensive simplification of legal processes.
In this context, Counsellor, Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, stated that the launch of this innovative project represents a strategic step towards realizing the vision of the Public Prosecution in employing advanced technology and AI to enhance the speed, efficiency, and transparency of the criminal justice system based on modern technologies and upholding the rule of law. It reflects the Public Prosecution’s commitment to developing innovative solutions that support efforts to improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system, expedite the course of criminal cases, bring about qualitative changes in criminal justice practices, and develop digital and judicial processes to achieve swift justice in line with the state’s innovation and future foresight directions.

ity, innovation, and technology, thanks to its continuous efforts and clear future vision aimed at enhancing digital transformation in all sectors, including the judicial sector. He noted that this cooperation would form a new vision for legal innovation in the region in the quest to employ AI in criminal justice, thus contributing to enhancing the efficiency of the judicial system in the country. He expressed his happiness with the cooperation with the Federal Public Prosecution in developing this innovative project.
This project is part of the Federal Public Prosecution’s strategic plan, which adopts the application of advanced technologies and AI. It is expected that this system will set a new standard in the use of AI to support criminal legal systems in the region, thereby enhancing the UAE’s status as a leading country in legal and technological innovation.
