Private school performance, quality improvements rising in Ras Al Khaimah, inspection report finds

RAS AL KHAIMAH: The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge (RAK DOK) announced a significant improvement in the performance of private schools in the emirate. The findings were the result of the latest cycle of the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) quality evaluations (school inspections).

Inspection results showed seven schools receiving the ‘good’ ranking versus only three in the last academic year, and one achieving a ‘very good’ result this year, underscoring the extensive joint efforts between MoE, the emirate’s Department of Knowledge and private school stakeholders.

According to the 2022/2023 academic year evaluations, conducted by the UAE MoE, three private schools in Ras Al Khaimah rated as ‘good’. However, in the most recent 2023/2024 academic year quality evaluations, this number increased to seven (7) ‘good’ schools. This remarkable turnaround was accentuated with one school – British School Al Hamra – being the only institution in the entire Northern Emirates to receive a rating of ‘very good’.

Additionally, a significant number of schools have shown promising improvements in various indicators, moving them closer to the ‘good’ overall assessment ratings.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Naqbi, RAK DOK Board Member, commended the schools for their dedication. He said, ‘We are thrilled to see such remarkable progress in just one academic year. This achievement highlights the dedication and hard work of all stakeholders involved in the education sector in Ras Al Khaimah. It also accentuates Ras Al Khaimah’s undeniable commitment to high-quality education and continual improvement. Such outcomes would not be achievable without the support and cooperation of private school owners, leaders, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and the wider community.’

The private schools in Ras Al Khaimah that received a ‘good’ assessment of overall quality rating are: RAK Academy (Khuzam campus); RAK Academy (Al Rams campus); RAK Modern Private School (Al Dhait); GEMS Westminster School, Emirates National School, The Wellspri
ng School and the International School of Choueifat – RAK, with the British School Al Hamra receiving a ‘very good’ assessment of overall quality rating.

RAK DOK’s continuous support and strategic initiatives have played a crucial role in fostering an environment of excellence and improvement within the private school sector. The department’s commitment to enhancing educational standards and providing high-quality education is reflected in these positive results.

‘This milestone places the education sector in perfect alignment with Ras Al Khaimah’s Vision 2030, which aims to advance the educational ecosystem to meet the highest international standards. We would like to thank our private school partners for their hard work and assure them that RAK DOK will continue to collaborate with them to ensure they receive the necessary support they require to continue this upward trajectory and deliver exceptional education to all students in the emirate,’ Dr. Al Naqbi added.
