Prime Minister’s Advisor: Holding early elections was not discussed in the political decision-making kitchens or in the meetings of the Coordination Framework or the State Administration Coalition

The political advisor to the Prime Minister, Fadi Al-Shammari, said that the statements that were circulated recently by the political forces about early elections were presented in the media and were not discussed in the kitchens of political decision-making or in the meetings of the Coordination Framework or the State Administration Coalition.

He added in a televised statement: The multiplicity of ideas and visions among the political forces is present at all times, and there is no “perfect consensus”.

He stressed that differences of opinion among the political forces are natural because the forces are of various orientations and moods and are not one case, including the framework forces.

He explained that a number of political forces, when forming the government, were primarily concerned with moving the country to stability, and there was no intention to hold early elections among a number of the Coordination Framework forces when forming the government.

He continued: Some of the Coordination Framework
forces saw, when forming the government, the necessity of restoring stability and people’s confidence in the regime.

He pointed out that setting the date for the elections is not done by a government initiative, but rather through the political forces and through parliament.

Al-Shammari stressed that The Commission needs 9 months as an operational procedure to hold any electoral entitlement, whether early or regular.

He pointed out that resorting to amending the electoral law may take from 4 to 6 months.

He explained that the Wisdom Movement and other parties in the Coordination Framework do not support holding early elections, and they are moving towards holding elections on time in 2025.

He stressed that the political forces have the right to say and propose whatever they want, taking into account the realistic and technical requirements of each issue.
