President of Albania receives President of INTERPOL

TIRANA: Bajram Begaj, President of the Republic of Albania, received Major General Dr. Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, President of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), during his official visit to Tirana as part of his participation in the 51st INTERPOL European Regional Conference, which is being held in the Albanian capital and will conclude tomorrow.

The meeting highlighted the significant efforts made by the Republic of Albania to support INTERPOL operations since joining the organisation 33 years ago, and its active role in enabling INTERPOL to combat human trafficking and illicit drug trade, and counter cyber threats, which have collectively contributed to enhancing the security of Southeast Europe.

They also discussed the mechanisms and tools necessary to combat organised crime and all other threats, such as cybercrime and illicit trafficking.

The two sides emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between specialised law enforcement agencies to tackle these ch
allenges and maintain the security and safety of communities worldwide.

The meeting also discussed the utilisation of the 19 databases and tools provided by INTERPOL, and ways to leverage the numerous initiatives launched by the organisation to build capacities and train law enforcement personnel.
